Standing all alone in the cemetery, Julie was grieving in front of George tomb. George was a dashing man, his bright sparking eyes can easily captivate any girl that has made eye contact with him, his nose was long and sharp, and his unkempt hair was stylish, at least for him. Thinking back all the good and bad memories they had, Julie’s eyes were trembling with tears, a quaver in her throat, tears streamed down her cheeks onto the ground. George death happened because of a competition.
The couple was lovingly watching a movie when a phone call came.
“Hey brother! What’s up! Do you want to meet for a midnight race organized by my friend? The winner of the competition gets $5000 sponsored by James,” exclaimed Peter.
“I wouldn’t want to give it a miss!” George replied excitedly.
“See you tonight! I have confirmed your place, so don’t back out alright!” replied Peter.
“Okay!” said George.
George told his girlfriend about it and being a supportive girlfriend, she decided to support George by riding with him on George’s motorcycle. He intended to surprise Julie by using the prize for the Paris holiday Julie had always wanted.
The fresh air in the night where no other vehicles were allowed at the race track filled George lungs and he became refreshed and exhilarated. Everyone was getting ready for t he competition. Most of the male competitors have their girlfriends with them. George and the rest of the competitors were all ready to win. The excitement and cheering filled in the atmosphere with encouragement.
“3, 2, 1, Go!”
George was in the lead, being very confident, he decided to do some stunts to impress his girlfriend. Every stunt that he did went on smoothly. Suddenly, George felt that there was something wrong with the engine as he could not use the brake. The worst part of all was, they did not abide by the race safety regulations. George was the only one with a helmet on due to the shortage of helmets as there were many participants.
“My helmet is a little tight, could you remove it for me and put it in on you instead? Quick,” stuttered George, acting like there was nothing wrong with the brake.
Julie took it off and wears it.
“Can you hug me tightly and tell me how much you love me?” said George.
It was a romantic atmosphere at that few seconds. Julie hugged him as tight as ever and told him how much she loves him not knowing t hat there was something wrong with the motorcycle.
“I love you, Julie,” replied George with much feeling that could fill up the entire ocean.
Due to the faulty brakes, the motorcycle skidded and crashed through the railings. The short-lived sweet talking turned into screams of horror. Every competitor was shocked and dumbfounded. They stopped and summoned for the ambulance. George was mutilated beyond recognition, Julie was holding on to George’s hand despite her serious bruises which were bleeding profusely.
Wails of siren could be heard at a distance, soon after, ambulance was in sight. George and Julie were brought to the hospital. However, George was not as lucky as Julie who managed to survive.
“Wake up! Wake up!” lamented Julie.
Just because of the faulty brakes, George passed away.
This incident had caused Julie crying whenever 20th October comes. She never fails to go to the cemetery with deep feelings in these 4 years.
“Julie!” shouted someone with a loud and dictatorial voice.
The voice was somehow familiar to Julie. As she turned back, she did not believe what she saw.
George was back.
They ran towards each other with tears streaming down uncontrollably. George explained that the hospital four years ago had mistaken him for another man due to his mutilated face. He had been searching for Julie these four years. Julie shifted house without letting anyone know. By the time George was recovered, Julie was no longer living at the same house. This competition that caused a terrible accident had caused both George and Julie to suffer badly without each other presence in these four years.
